Egg On Jamie's Face
Celebrity chef, anti battery farm campaigner and spokesman for Sainsburys' Jamie Oliver got egg on his face the other day when it was revealed that his showcase restaurant in Cornwall (15) was serving battery farm eggs.
Jamie said that "heads would roll".

Rotten Carrots
Rotten Carrots
Commiserations to Prince Charles, champion of organic farming, who has had his carrots rejected by Sainsbury's as they were deemed to be "rotten".
Sainsbury's also rejected carrots supplied by the head of the Soil Association, Patrick Holden.
Sainsbury's stated that the crop was rotten, because it had been kept in a cold storage centre since being harvested last year. A spokeswoman said:
"They put the carrots in cold storage near their farms, where they suffered rapid deterioration and as a result we have had to reject the remainder of the crop."
Mr Holden said his carrots were sent by truck from his farm in Wales to a packing plant in Peterborough. He said the "quality issues" were "at least in part caused by transport".
"The truth is, if you buy your carrots in Sainsbury's, they will only come from this one pack house in Peterborough.
I haven't got anything in for Sainsbury's. My issue is that all supermarkets have adopted this policy of centralisation of supply."

It seems that childrens' healthy eating champion and front man for Sainsburys, Jamie Oliver, is serving baked beans on toast at his famous restaurant £15.
The trouble is, he is charging £7 for this dish.
Who on earth is stupid enough to pay £7 for baked beans on toast?
I also understand that aside from making one hell of a profit on this dish, from the customers stupid enough to buy it, Jamie is also being paid by Heinz £15K to put it on his menu.
Easy money!
In case you don't know how to create this Oliver classic", here is the recipe:
-Open one can of beans
-Heat the contents in a saucepan
-Toast some bread
-Butter the toast
-Pour the beans over the toast
-Eat

Jamie Gives The Game Away
I watched the final episode on TV, last night, of Jamie Oliver's tour of Italy.
During this series he has taken a film crew with him, as he tours Italy in an old camper van; his objective, to learn more about regional cooking in Italy.
Last night, as he sat in a lemon grove picking fresh leomns, he extolled the virtues of the natural lemon; with all its "nobbly bits".
He went on to say that these natural lemons were far superior to the sanitised, uniform variety that are sold to us in the UK.
He almost used the word supermarkets, but stopped himself short; as he remembered that he in fact is paid a hefty sum by Sainsburys to sell us their uniform, sanitised products.

Twizzlers' Revenge
Jamie Oliver's recent campaign against British schoolchildren being fed processed crap has had an unexpected side effect.
It seems that sales of the much derided Turkey Twizzler, which is allegedly a menace to childrens' health, are rocketing.
King of the turkey's, Bernard Matthews, has reported a 32% year-on-year rise in sales.
The Twizzlers consist mainly of water, rusk, pork fat and coating; 33% is is made up of "mechanically recovered" turkey meat.
Jamie Oliver seemingly was so incensed about that product, that he threatened to "send a bomb round their factory and shove it right up the jacksie of the MD."
Given this evangelical crusade for food purity, I would question as to why Jamie allows himself to be seen as the frontman for Sainsburys?
Oh wait a minute, that would be the money he is receiving from them right?
Following on from Jamie's programme, Twizzlers have been banned by some schools. However, the British public still have a taste for these processed "foods".
There has been no reported no downturn in sales of Fish Rockets, Turkey Dinosaurs, McCain's Smiles or any of the other products derided by Jamie Oliver's programme.
